Beatrice M. “Bea” LaPine, age 94, of Wells passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Beatrice was born March 3, 1922 in Escanaba, the daughter of Eugene and Anna (Derusha) Sovey. She was raised by her mother and adoptive father, Joseph Berube. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening and lawn care. She was also a Lioness with the Wells Lions Club.
Beatrice is survived by two sons, Dan (Connie) Belanger of Escanaba and Douglas LaPine of Wells; grandchildren, Troy (Holly) Belanger, Crystal LaPine and Michael Belanger; great grandchildren, Brendon and Ethan Belanger; step-grandchildren, Greg and Alan Jensen; her brother, Joseph Berube of Escanaba; her sister, Corrine (John) Wigand of Wetmore, MI and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert LaPine, her parents, her adoptive father, Joseph Berube, her sister Mercedes Beecher and her granddaughter, Amanda LaPine.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 4:00 PM at St.Anthony Catholic Church in Wells. A luncheon will follow in the Father Parrotta Hall. She will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery.

Mrs. Lapine was a caring, nice person. I was 10 years old and in the hospital in Green Bay, WI for an extensive period of time. She had known my parents and sent a ceramic shoe with flowers in it. Such a kind woman, I still remember it today now at 45 years old. May she rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers are with your family
