Barbara Anne Vermote, age 71, of Escanaba passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at her home from an apparent heart attack.
Barbara was born August 11, 1944 in Escanaba, the daughter of Constant and Elsie (LaChapelle) Vermote. She was raised in Rock and graduated from the Rock High School in 1963. Barbara moved to Illinois where she worked for AT&T many years until she retired and moved to Mesa, Arizona. She spent twenty years in Mesa and recently moved to Escanaba to be closer to her family. Barbara enjoyed listening to music and dancing and going out to eat with family and friends.
Barbara is survived by two brothers, Gerard (Julie) Vermote of Flat Rock and Mark (Mary) Vermote of Escanaba; one sister, Emily (Chuck) Moreau of Cornell, nieces and nephews, Brian Seger, Cheryl (Jim) Cass, Jennifer, Tami and Luke (Nicole) Vermote, Kevin (Kelly) and Aaron (Kristy) Moreau and Amber Vermote.
She is also survived by her special friend, Leo Sjoholm of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jane Seger, her brother, Bernard Vermote and her nephew, Duane Vermote.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 12th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Memorial services will follow at 6:00 PM with Fr. Emmitt Norden officiating, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.
