Barbara Ellen Demeuse, age 75, of Gladstone passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 in Gladstone.

Barbara was born January 7, 1939 in Ishpeming, Michigan, the daughter of Fred and Ora (Gour) Cayer. She was united in marriage to Joseph Demeuse on July 28, 1956 in Escanaba. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and active with the crafts group. She was an American Cancer volunteer and a volunteer shopper with the Family Indepence Agency. Barbara loved to spend time with her family, baking, cooking, the outdoors and crafts. She was also an avid Green Bay Packer and Detroit Pistons fan.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Joseph (Dianne) Demeuse and Richard (Cindy) Demeuse, both of Gladstone; her daughter, Deborah (Timothy) Gutzman of Wayne, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer, Brenda, Michelle, JoEllyn, Charles, Katie, Mark, Angela; great grandchildren, Cameron, Tyler, Benjamin, Evan, Riley Jo, Tyler, Alex, Arjeta, Ramadan, Dylan and Bujar; her brother, Paul (Pat) Cayer of Schaffer; two sisters, Marcaline Dewitt of Smithville, PA and Elizabeth “Sis” Russell of Marquette, sister-in-law, Pat Cayer of Wautoma, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Demeuse on February 6, 1990, her parents, three sisters, Loretta Jenkins, Arlene Ketcham and Mary Goslin and one brother, Allan Cayer.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 17 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5:00 PM at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Gladstone Senior Center. Barbara will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery.

    My condolences to my sister Dianne and brother-in-law, Joe, and to Rich and Cindy, Debby and Tim, and all the grand kids and great grand kids of Barb. I wish I could be there to pass on my sentiments personally. Just as Barb was in my thoughts in recent weeks, the whole family is in my thoughts at this time.

    A Wonderful person and customer . . . A tireless worker for the annual Relay for life . . Barb will certainly be missed by family, friends and the community.

    Joey, Rick, and Deb and all your families. Sorry to hear about your Mom and Grandma. If we had known in time, we would have come up. Just know we are thinking about you and know that Barb will be missed. God Bless all of you.
