Ann Olson Rajala, age 103, longtime resident of Escanaba and former Rock resident, died Monday morning, January 16, 2006, at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.
The former Ann Englund was born to a large family on March 16th, 1902 in Maple Ridge Township of Delta County and had lived in Rock in her early years. She married Rolf Olson and he preceded her in death in 1964. Ann later married Toivo Rajala and he preceded her in death 12 years ago.
During her working years, she was employed as an occupational therapist, and for a number of years, was engaged for Ypsilanti State Hospital. Ann was an active individual in her day and was an inspiration to family and friends. She was always proud to be a member of the Rock American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by all her siblings and therefore was the last survivor of her generation of the Englund family.
Ann Olson Rajala survivors include:
One son- Marvin (Berneil) Olson of Bellaire, MI and Mesa, Arizona.
Two grandsons, one great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held in the spring when in accordance with family wishes.
