Anita J. Young, age 89, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Bishop Noa Home, in Escanaba, where she currently resided.
Anita was born June 27, 1923, in Escanaba, the daughter of Fredrik and Jeannette (Tappenden) Thorbjornsen. She was raised in Escanaba and was a 1941 graduate of the Escanaba Senior High School. On November 15, 1941, Anita was united in marriage to Stephen Young and together the couple made their home and raised their family in West Gladstone. Throughout her life, Anita worked primarily as a homemaker, lovingly caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking and going berry picking. In addition, Anita was proud to have taught many children swimming lessons and was always attentive to the care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fondly referred to as
