Alma Lessard

Alma I. Lessard, age 97, of the Pine Haven Rest Home in Gladstone (formerly of 1306 Dakota Avenue) passed away Wednesday morning January 28, 2009 at the Pine Haven Rest Home where she had been a resident for the past 3 1/2 years.
Alma was born February 23, 1911 in Ensign, the daughter of Issac and Anna (Johnson) Sebeck. She was raised in Ensign and she attended the Silverdale Schoolhouse in Ensign.

Alma was united in marriage to Walter Lessard on October 7, 1928 in Gladstone and they made their home in Gladstone where they raised their four children. Walter preceded her in death in 1992.

Alma was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone where she also worked as the custodian for over 20 years. She was a lifetime member of the O.E.S. R.C. Hathaway Chapter #49.

Alma enjoyed spending time at their camp where she enjoyed hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.

Survivors include:
2 sons; Kenneth (Mary) and Lloyd (Doris) Lessard, both of Gladstone
Daughter: Madeline (Conrad) Pratt of Escanaba
Brother: Melvin (Theresa) Sebeck of Escanaba
10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was also preceded in death by her;
Son; Francis in 1972
5 brothers; Olaf and Helmer Peterson, John, Carl and Fred Sebeck
4 sisters; Ester Larson, Tillie White, Wilma Hansen and Alice Bunno

    The Donald Russell family will miss our visits with Alma. We always went to visit her when we made our trips to Gladstone. Our wishes are with your family during this difficult time. Alma was a true gem.
