Phoenix, AZ

Allan “Butch” L. Rivard, age 86, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Escanaba, MI, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 29, 2023 at Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, AZ.

Butch was born January 25, 1937 in Escanaba, the son of Clement and Esther (Gauthier) Rivard. His playful spirit touched many and his life was an example of generosity and love.

Butch was united in marriage to Marlene LaComb on January 14, 1961. They spent 62 loving years together.

Butch was an avid Packer fan. His personality could best be described as very friendly and always ready to offer a helping hand. His cheerful presence and kindness made him a beloved figure in his community. Butch lived by the golden rule: “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” He also loved putzing in the yard and working on his old car in the garage.

Butch sailed on the Great Lakes for inland steel for a few years and then worked at P&H until it closed. He also had odd jobs until his retirement from Elmers. He especially enjoyed the family picnics at their house.

Butch’s gentle and giving nature is a testament to the impact one person can have when they offer kindness to those around them. His best attribute was his sense of humor. He always wanted to make people laugh and his wit and charm left a lasting impression.

In addition to his loving wife, Allan is survived by:

Son: John (Deirdre) Rivard of Phoenix, AZ
