Beloved sister-in-law. Thank you for the many hours of “coffee time” chats that you and I shared over the years as well your countless other kindnesses.I will miss you.

I was so sorry to hear about Ada’s death. She & Les were a part of the St. Augustine Church in Republic during the summers they served as hosts at Van Riper. It was always so wonderful to see them when they returned to the area. We at the church will be remembering Ada & you as well.

    Sister Margey

Ada, may you rest in eternal peace. I enjoyed all your kindness in receiving me into your home the numerous times I spent there with your loving daughter Maria. Sorry for running you out of bread, as we would eat a loaf of toasted goodness each time! (It was all Maria’s idea)! I hope your reunion with Les was wonderful & all your family! May God bless the ones left behind.

Ada was a wonderful neighbor & friend to my mother, Kathy Sundalius. She will be missed. I enjoyed trading books with her. Wonderful lady. Sympathy to her family.

Along with my wife, Elaine, i extend our condolences to the family of Ada, at this time of your loss. She and Les were unusually kind people. I met Les at the time he was a counselor at NMU in 1968 when i started as a Hall Director. Our friendship was re-kindled when Elaine and I met Les and Ada at Van Riper during his days as host, and that is also when i first met Ada. They were special in their role of host/hostess. On the weekend, you could count on fresh coffee, a donut (if you got there early enough), and friendship. Resulting from the atmosphere they created, the gathering grew by the week during their weeks on-duty. Les, with Ada by his side, judiciously carried out the labor-day ceremonial walk across the bridge over the creek to the boat launch. All gathered around to hear Les’ proclamation. Yes, Les was hokey and corny, but with his serious appearance, he held the children’s attention as if they were attending a memorial dedication. They were fun, they were so nice,.. i have missed Les these several years and only saw Ada once after his departure. It would seem they are a very deserving couple to be rejoined in heaven. May the Holy Spirit descend upon all family members and loved ones to gift them with strength, peace, and healing.
