To the family of Jack Miller,
It is with great sadness that Pete and I learned about Jack’s passing this morning while we were having breakfast at Jack’s. As I read his obituary we understand that his illness was short.
A flood of memories are surfacing as I write this tribute. Jack hired me to work when I started going to NMU. I worked every summer until I was married in July of 1970. Jack’s mother, Vivian trained the waitresses and I learned so many things from her.
Following marrying Pete we enjoyed our Jack’s Restaurant, and remained loyal customers.
Pete and Jack were Lions /Club members, and Jack was a well thought of community leader.
We send our deepest sympathy to the entire Miller family. Peace be with you.

My earliest memory of Jack Miller was of a middle-aged man in swim trunks teaching 4th, 5th & 6th graders the fundamentals of basketball on Saturday mornings during the winter. God did I look forward to those mornings! Jack started up the program and when I think about it, Jack was sort of the godfather of Rapid’s first two and only regional basketball titles; it was Jack’s “kids” who won those two titles.

Then there was Jack’s generosity; whether it was a Lumber Jack after refereeing one of his Saturday morning basketball games , trips to Packer Lion games or a drink out at the cottage, Jack’s generosity was unequaled. I will miss him.

I have so many memories of the Miller families. Judge Miller, Jack & Viivian, Jackie & Jeanie & Chrilden. My sincere sympathy in the passing of Jackie.

I worked at Jacks as a dishwasher. Always enjoyed Jack and his jokes. Also knew Judge and Vivian as we would go to their camp with my Dad and Mom! With my Dad owning the hardware store in Rapid, Jack would often stopped there and visit. My sincere condolences to the Miller family!

To the Miller Family, I’m sorry for your loss. I do wish that I could have gotten to know the family better. He was an uncle to me as was Jean an aunt. (Robert Patrick Boyer) was my father which was Jean’s brother. I Recently made a trip to Rapid River ( 24 August 2022) and found out at the restaurant that both had passed. I didn’t know where to find family or if I should’ve bothered them as it has been many years since they’ve seen me. My condolences to the Miller family
