Iris E. Johnson, age 75, of Brampton passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Iris was born June 7, 1946 in Escanaba, the daughter of Floyd and Eileen (Coleman) Bonno. She was raised in Gladstone and graduated from the Gladstone High School in 1964. She was united in marriage to James Johnson on November 16, 1968 in the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Iris was a licensed beautician and owned and operated Gram’s Pasties from 1987 to 2003. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved animals. She volunteered at the animal shelter, fostered kittens, raised chickens, Icelandic horses and nursed hummingbirds back to health.
Iris is survived by her husband, James of Brampton; daughter, Susanne (William Jr.) Dubord of Brampton; son, Steve (April) Johnson of Gladstone; grandchildren, Alex (Crystal Corey) Larson, Derek (Brianne) Neuman, Stephanie (Orin) Thomas, Rebecca Dubord, William (Haile Waters) Dubord III, Michael Karppinen, Desiree (Scott) Carlson and Dylan (Shannon) Karpinnen; great grandchildren, Mordecai, Nathan, Austin, Whyatt, Willow, Kelsey, Aydan, Aubrey, Emma, Lincoln, Audrina and one on the way; her mother, Eileen Erickson of Gladstone; brother, Mark Bonno of Escanaba; sisters, Melodi (James) Gravelle of Gladstone, Penny (Fritz) Piette of Black Creek, WI and Candice (Tim) Barron of Cornell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her good friend, Laurie Veness of Washington Island, WI.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Bonno, beloved grandson, Samuel Larson, step-father, Marvin “Mush” Erickson, niece, Carol Ann Walsh, brothers-in-law, David “Bucko” Johnson, Roger Johnson, Fred Johnson, Mason Johnson and sister-in-law, Helene “Dolly” Thibeault.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 6 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Fr. Robb Jurkovich officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Gladstone Pavilion.
