Kathryn B. Newhouse, age 96, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.
Kathryn was born August 29, 1924, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the daughter of Hazel and Lorraine Willis (Bergevin). She was raised in Gladstone and was a graduate of Gladstone High School. Kathryn was united in marriage to the late Robert Newhouse at All Saints Church in Gladstone, and together they spent many years of wonderful memories. Kathryn loved to play guitar and sing with her friends. She also enjoyed reading, and beading. She even taught beading in Florida, where she and Robert spent 30 years wintering, always returning to their family cottage on Stoner Lake during the summer months. She will be deeply missed by so many.

Sons: Gerald (Sandra) Newhouse, Michael (Cindy) Newhouse, Ronald (Loveta Calhoun) Newhouse, and Robert James Newhouse
Sister: Patricia Cotter
Grandchildren: Gerald Jr. (Christine) Newhouse, Lisa (Keith Russotto) Marenger, Rachel, Jacob (Becky) Newhouse, Aaron Newhouse, Justin Newhouse, Robert (Jacklyn Cuellar) Newhouse, and Carly (Alex) Nahrwold
Also surviving are 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her late husband Robert Newhouse, her parents, and her brothers John “Jack”, Robert, and Thomas Willis.
The family would like to extend a thank-you to the staff of Bishop Noa Home for the amazing care they provided to Kathryn.
Graveside services honoring Kathryn will be held at the convenience of the family, and Kathryn will be laid to rest in Gardens Of Rest Cemetery in Wells, MI.

As a Senior Companion, and as a friend of her son Jim, I got to know her well. She loved to sing whenever anything musical was going on. She would attend all the events. Also we are very distant cousins, going further back on the Bergevin side. A wonderful woman who always had a smile and something good to say.

I am so very sorry to hear about Kate, and very sorry for the family’s loss. Kate live on the 5th floor of West Highland with her husband and that is where I got to know her. She loved just to sit out with us ladies and visit. I did go over and visit with Kate at Bishop Noah from time to time. I will miss her. God bless you all!
