Margaret M. Belongie, age 89, of 1410 Michigan Avenue, Gladstone, passed away Friday morning June 17, 2011 at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.
Margaret was born June 20, 1921 in Marathon, WI the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Beran) Mohr. She lived on a dairy farm and was one of 12 children. When the 12th child was born, her father passed away. Being second oldest made a very busy life for Margaret.
She worked at Trim Radio in Chicago, making ear phones for the Navy.
Margaret was united in marriage to Francis Belongie on August 2, 1947 at St. Mary’s Church in Marathon, Wisconsin. They moved from Chicago to Gladstone in 1952 where they raised their son Steven.
Margaret was an active member of All Saints Church where she also worked for several years as a sacristan. Her hobbies included working Word Search Puzzles, sewing, crocheting, quilting, cooking, baking, gardening and watching birds.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, Francis, survivors include son Steven (Carol) Belongie of Gladstone, brothers Jacob (Georgie) Mohr of Eagle River, WI., Edward (Marie) Mohr of Mosinee, WI., Alfred (Luanne) Mohr of Marathon, WI. and Marvin Mohr (Barbara) of Marathon Twp., WI., and sisters Marie Kamenick of Marathon, WI., Eleanor Friedman of Palatine, IL., Lucille Krieske of Northbrook, IL. and Doris (Kenneth) Vesely, of Wausau, WI. Brother-in-law: Edward Irvin Huebsch of Marathon, WI and sister-in-law: Esther Mohr of Marathon, WI. Two grandchildren Patty (Kevin) Peterson, Oneida, WI and Steven (Angela) Belongie Jr. of Gladstone. Two great grandchildren Abigael Peterson and Sawyer Belongie and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, Joseph and Mary, Margaret was preceded in death by her step father, John Lepak, brothers, Joseph and Henry, sister, Helen Huebsch, brother-in-law
