Roger A. King, age 63, of Gladstone, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at St. Francis hospital in Escanaba.

Roger was born October 27, 1954, in Escanaba, the son of Francis “Curly” and Rosalie (Derusha) King. He was a Gladstone High School graduate who joined the United States Army following graduation. Throughout his life he held various jobs. From truck driving, to working at Harnischfeger, catering, and owning his own construction company.

Roger was a member of the Gladstone American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and had a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his life partner, Lori Marmalick of Gladstone, he is survived by:
1 “Son”: Paul (Laura) Marmalick of Highlands Ranch, CO
1 “Daughter”: Jenn (Adam) Peterson of Robbinsdale, MN
2 Brothers: Garry King of Marinette, WI
Daniel (Terri) King of Gladstone, MI
3 Sisters: Debra (Mark) Winker of Escanaba, MI
Cindy (Tom) Taylor of Gladstone, MI
Connie (Tony) Mayville of Escanaba, MI
“Grandson”: Wyatt Peterson
And many Nieces , Nephews, and Cousins

Roger was preceded in death by:
Parents: Francis “Curly” and Rosalie King
And 1 Brother: Wayne “Butch” King

Family will receive friends Monday, December 18, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military Honors will be presented to Roger at 6:00 PM by the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71. Inurnment will take place at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Lori Marmalick at 401 Dakota Avenue, Gladstone, MI 49837. The family will designate a charity at a later date. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the King family.

    To the family and loved ones of Roger, I wish to offer my deepest condolences. Roger was one of the nicest guys in town, and always had a smile and pleasant conversation for me every time I saw him. I will miss his smile, his laugh, and his presence when I make my visits home. Rest in peace, Roger.

    Roger was very generous with his time and talents. Plus he was fun and kind! I will miss him and the good times we had together. Rest in peace with no more suffering and pain.

    I hope you know how much we all loved you. You are now up in heaven with mom, dad and Butch and I’m sure there will be some good cribbage playing going on up their. May you rest in peace and know we will miss you very much. We love you brother!

    So Sorry for your loss. I remember Roger since I was a little kid, Flat Rock kid as he reminded me every time I seen him 🙂

    So sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. He always had a sweet stuffed animal at the ready for our kids when they were little. A very good-hearted man. Sending prayers of support.

    I fondly remember all the times our families shared years ago at Uncle Curly’s and Aunt Rosalie’s and Rodger was a kind soul to us kids and enjoyable times.
