RODGER KENNETH DAY, AGE 63, BELOVED HUSBAND OF LILLIAN, WENT TO BE WITH HIS LORD ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2011.
HE SPENT HIS LAST FEW DAYS AT HOME WITH HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN AFTER AN UNSUCCESSFUL, FIVE MONTH BATTLE WITH CANCER. HE FOUGHT VERY HARD TO STAY ON THIS EARTH UNITL HIS FAMILY REASSURED HIM THAT ALL WILL BE WELL WITH THEM AND TO MAKE HIS TRANSISTION PEACEFUL KNOWING THIS.
RODGER WAS BORN ON MAY 29, 1948 TO KENNETH LEROY AND VONDA KATHERINE (SHAW) DAY IN LANSING, MICHIGAN. RODGER, AS A YOUNG LAD, PURSUED EMPLOYMENT IN THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR. HE WENT FROM SWEEPING FLOORS TO BECOMING THE SHOP FOREMAN AT HEART TRUSS MANUFACTURING COMPANY IN LANSING. HE EVENTUALLY OPENED HIS OWN TRUSS COMPANY IN NORTH CAROLINA. AFTER SOME YEARS THERE, HE DECIDED TO MOVE TO THE UPPER PENINSULA IN MICHIGAN. HE TOOK A JOB AS A GLAZIER ON THE K.I. SAWYER AIR FORCE BASE AND TRAVELED TO OTHER STATES WITH CONSTRUCTION CREWS TO PLY HIS TRADE. HE ALSO ENJOYED WORKING WITH WOOD SO HE OPENED A SHOP IN GWINN CALLED NORTH STAR WOOD PRODUCTS. AFTER YEARS OF SUCCESS WITH HIS NEW BUSINESS, RODGER DECIDED TO MOVE TO BRAMPTON IN 1991 AND CHANGE THE NAME OF HIS BUSINESS TO DIAMOND SHAFT MANUFACTURING COMPANY. RODGER RETIRED IN JULY 2010 TO ENJOY HIS OTHER HOBBIES AND TO SPEND TIME WITH HIS FAMILY.
RODGER IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, LILLIAN, HIS CHILDREN, JUSTIN
