, age 91, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Sunny View Foster Care Home, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Joy was born in Perkins, MI on September 16, 1925 to Charles and Elizabeth (Martin) Young.
After graduating from Baldwin Township School in 1943, she moved to Milwaukee, WI. In 1950, she married Harold DuRoy of Gladstone. Several years after Harold passed away, she married Robert Gazlay of Gladstone. Together, they built a home on Chaison Road, in Gladstone, and in 1966 they purchased the Gamble Store also in Gladstone. The store operated until 1987 when they both retired. Robert passed away in October of 1998.
She spent her retirement years quilting, traveling, crosswording, and spending time with her sister, son and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two brothers, Edward and Charles Young, and her sister, Harriet Granholm. She is survived by her son, Jerry DuRoy, two grandsons, Harlan and Leland DuRoy, and several great grandchildren.
