Chun Ok “Wendy” Depuydt, 69, of 5710 O.1 Birch Street, Gladstone, passed away Friday evening February 3, 2017 at the Butterworth Hospital Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids, MI.

Wendy was born January 12, 1948 in Pusan, South Korea to Mr. and Mrs. Yi. She was raised in South Korea where she met and later married Brian Depuydt on May 21, 1970 in Seoul, South Korea. They moved to Perkins in October of 1970 and later to Escanaba until settling at their current location in 1976 in Gladstone.

Wendy worked at the Northwoods Annex in Escanaba and also Kmart until she retired to spend more time playing golf. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Gladstone Golf Club. Wendy played in many leagues and tournaments in the U.P. She was runner-up champion at the Gladstone Golf Club and she won the 1999 Highland Open. She loved playing Poker, especially Omaha and Texas Hold’em, playing in many tournaments.

In addition to her husband of 46 years, Brian, survivors include:

Numerous nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.

Wendy’s family will receive friends on Tuesday February 7, 2017 from 2:30 to 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Chun Ok “Wendy” Depuydt will follow at 5:00 PM with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Luncheon will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Hall in Perkins. She will be laid to rest at the Perkins Cemetery in the Spring. There also will be a memorial service this summer at the Gladstone Gold Club which will be announced at a future date. Memorial contributions in memory of Wendy may be directed to the family for them to establish something at the Gladstone Golf Club in her memory.
