Norma Bonacci

Norma J. “Manthy” (Beaudry) Bonacci, 91, of Escanaba, passed away on November 11, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family. Norma was born in Manistique, Michigan on April 24, 1925, the daughter of the late Norman & Eleanor (Gould) Beaudry.
Norma attended Lady of the Lakes Catholic Academy in St. Ignace, Michigan, graduating in 1943. She married the late Henry R. Bonacci on September 23, 1954. Together they made a home in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and later in Escanaba. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2014.

Norma worked as a cook in the Sault for several years, and then worked as a custodian at Holy Name Catholic School in Escanaba, until her retirement.

Norma was an avid fisher woman, spending her spare time on trout streams with her grandchildren and her late husband. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, refinishing furniture, and cooking, especially Italian food.

Surviving Mrs. Bonacci are her two children, Carole (Lester) Johnson, of Escanaba and Wayne “Tony” (Lois) Bonacci of Sanford, Florida. Six grandchildren, Donald Johnson (Loretta Guare), Manthy Johnson, Beau Johnson, and Abby Johnson, all of Escanaba, Michigan, Michael Bonacci and Susan Bonacci both of Sanford, Florida. Two great-grandchildren, Dylan Johnson and Kaylee Johnson, both of Escanaba, Michigan. One brother, Wayne (Walburga) Beaudry of Sierra Vista, Arizona. One sister-in-law Emma (Bonacci) Crockett of Newberry, Michigan and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Beaudry, and Henry “Jim” Beaudry, and one step-sister Nancy McKerchie.

“Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all.”

In keeping with the wishes of Norma and her family, there will be no public services.

The Bonacci family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.

    My deepest sympathies to everyone in the family. My dad always mentioned how Manthy was his angel. Manthy is now truly his angel in heaven.
