Christine “Chris” M. Walker, age 91, of 9081 Stagecoach Q.5 Avenue, Gladstone, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. Chris was born November 6, 1924, in Detroit, the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Widman) Ward. Chris graduated from Northwestern High School in January of 1943 in Detroit. She married Jim Walker August 30, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas, while he was in the service. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1990. Jim and Chris moved from Detroit after World War II to Copper Harbor. Jim became a Conservation Officer and they lived in Thompson, Shingleton, Cedarville, Ensign, and Gladstone. In August 1969, the DNR moved them to Lansing where they resided until Jim retired in 1980; they then moved back to Gladstone.
Chris was an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone where she served on numerous committees. She was also active in the Christian Women’s Club, Bay Sages, and SERA.

3 daughters; Susan (Michael) Lagina of Gladstone, MI
Kathryn (Brian) Galvin of Lake Havasu, AZ
Margaret Walker (Zbigniew) Bzak of Chicago, IL
Beloved sister; Sarah (Elden) Hubbard
Grandchildren; Carol (Cindy) Larson, Gabriel (Angie) Lagina, Joshua Lagina, Courtney Lagina, Hannah Walker, Tiffany Walker
3 great grandchildren; Luka, Olivia, and Isaac Lagina

In addition to her parents, and husband Jim, Chris is preceded in death by:
2 brothers; Fredrick and Calvin Ward
Granddaughter; Moriah Walker

Chris’ family will receive friends on Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone with Funeral Services celebrating the life of Chris to follow visiting hours on Saturday, at 11:00 A.M. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone, with Rev. Caroline Hart officiating. Chris will be laid to rest in the Memorial United Methodist Church Garden following services on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring the life of Christine Walker may be directed to the Memorial United Methodist Church fund.
