Virginia F. Paquin, age 85, passed away Wednesday evening, June 29, 2016 at her home in Flat Rock. Virginia was born on November 5, 1930, in Escanaba, the daughter of Wesley and Florence (Robar) Anderson. She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1948. Following graduation, she worked at Munising Wooden Works as an artist. On June 28, 1952, Virginia was joined in marriage to Clarence Massard at St. Thomas Church. They had one daughter Christine (Tina Massard) Clark who was born on April 22, 1956. Clarence was killed at an accident at the Escanaba Paper Mill on May 18, 1956. On November 3, 1962, Virginia was united in marriage with Jim Paquin at Holy Family Church. They had one daughter Candy (Paquin) Nelson. Together the couple made their home in Flat Rock with Candy and Tina.
Throughout the years, Virginia was a member of the Delta County Merry Mixers Square Dance Club. She was room mother at her daughter’s school. She served for several years as secretary for the Hiawatha Monday Night Bowling League where she bowled with several friends and family. She was also a regular on the Escanaba Township election board. Virginia was an outstanding artist, loved art and always admired the work of Norman Rockwell and Bob Ross. She decorated beautiful cakes, was a great cook, and a gifted seamstress. Virginia loved flowers, gardening and birds,. She spent most of her summers outside in her garden. She also enjoyed working on puzzles, and goin to the casino. Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, friend and a very special grandmother. In addition to her husband Jim, survivors include:

Donald (Ruth) Anderson of Escanaba, MI.
Grandchildren: Christopher Clark, Kimberly Clark, and Chris Nelson.
Great Grandchildren: Ethan Denasha, Anna Gagnon, and Mehgan Mangrum.
Several Sister-In-Laws and Brother-In-Laws
And Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins from the the Anderson, Masssard, and Paquin families.
In addition to Virginia’s parents, she was preceded in death by Clarence Massard (first husband), Joshua Clark (grandson), and Gordon Anderson (brother).
Virginia’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, from 10:15 to 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock with Rev. Fr. John Longbucco officiating. Virginia will be laid to rest at Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to St. Vincent De Paul. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Paquin family with arrangements.
