Neil Billings, age 86, of Escanaba passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay.

Neil was born March 1, 1929 in Schaffer, the son of Homer and Doris (Martin) Billings. He was a graduate of the Escanaba High School and worked as a welder for the Harnischfeger Corporation for many years. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. On April 24, 1954 Neil was united in marriage to Doris Ducat at the St. Anne Church in Menominee.

Neil was a steadfast, quiet man who put God and family before himself. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Even in his death, he was an example of humility and godliness. He will be greatly missed by so many, but he will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Neil is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters, Audrey (Rick) Ansell of Escanaba and Carol (John) Schouwburg of Kingsford; son, Mark (Connie) Billings of Green Bay,; daughter-in-law: Cheryl Larsen; twelve grandchildren, Melissa, Jeremiah, Jason, Brent, Kimberly, Michael, Jessica, Amy, Justin, Alicia, Andrew and Kristin; seventeen great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Wendrick of Bark River and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Brian Billings.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11 from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Escanaba. Military Honors will be presented by at 2:45 PM by the Delta County Veterans Council. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Jason Holmes officiating. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Neil will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

The Billings family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.
