Anne K. Symington, 75, of 7581 Summitt 19.55 Drive, Gladstone, passed away on Oct. 2, 2015, at Lakeview Assisting Living at 9 p.m. of natural causes.
Anne was born on Oct. 18, 1940, in Dundee, Scotland.
Anne joined our community in 1997, moving from London, UK, in order to be close to her family. She became involved with various local organizations, volunteering her time, and especially enjoyed time spent with those involved with the U.P. 200 Sled Dog Race, the Bonifas Fine Arts Center, and Gladstone’s Friends of the Library.
Anne is survived by her son, Samuel Henry of Escanaba; granddaughters, Michelle A. Henry and Alex J. Henry, both of Marquette.
There is no immediate service planned, per Anne’s desires.
There will be an event hosted by the Bonifas Fine Arts Center on Oct. 22 from 4 to 6 p.m., a time to remember. Any gifts or donations can be sent to help support Anne’s favorite pastimes, any of the above organizations, each with their own websites.
Anne enjoyed living here in the U.P., and made the most of the opportunities that are offered. To have had heard stories about her life experience, it is clear that she made the most of whatever she did, and enjoyed encouraging those around her to do the same, find pleasure in living life.

I’m so sad to read this obituary…Anne was one of my very first clients as a travel agent years ago…She was so classy and a joy to assist. The world lost a beautiful soul. Condelences to her family and friends.

It has only now come to my attention that Anne passed away, as we today received a returned Christmas card marked ‘undeliverable as addressed’. Anne was our neighbour in Kew, London for several years and we very much enjoyed her company. She was an amusing friend – and a kind and considerate neighbour. We have enjoyed keeping in touch with Anne by Christmas cards over the years, since her exciting move to the USA. It is late in the day, but condolences to Anne’s family and Michigan friends.
