Ronald Anthony Lustick, 71, of Rapid River, passed away Friday October 2, 2015 at U.P. Health Systems in Marquette from an aneurysm.

Ron was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 25, 1944 to Conrad and Christine (Gornick) Lustick. He was very proud of his Slovenian heritage. He used to tease his wife that he married down by marrying a Swede.

Ron graduated from Escanaba High School in 1963. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy where he spent 4 years as a machinist repairman on the ships.

On October 12, 1968 he married the former Sara Johnson at Trinity Episcopal Church in Gladstone and they made their home in Rapid River. They met 53 years ago this November 17 during hunting season in front of the Rapid River Post Office.

Ron worked for Alger Delta Co-op in Gladstone for a few years and then worked for Great Lakes Gas Company in Rapid River until his retirement. He did pipeline maintenance work and he enjoyed keeping in contact with co-workers from both places of employment.

After retirement, he spent almost all his time in his workshop. He had every tool you could think of. His wife told him the shop was worth more than the house. He always had a project going on for himself, family, friends or others. He was very talented and handy. He liked the Green Bay Packers, Tigers, and Michigan State. He had a lot of visitors in his shop. When his eyes started to get bad, his wife bought him a new 60

So sorry to hear about Ron but will always remember the many good times spent with him and my Dad, who considered him one of his closest friends, together at Whitefish camp.
