Betty Joyce (Gauthier) Stock passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 9. She was also known as “Bib” by her sisters and “GiGi” by her great grandchildren. She was born on November 16, 1933. On February 23,1954 she married Victor Stock in Munising. She worked for over 25 years at JC Penney in Gladstone and Escanaba. She was a long time member of All Saints Church.
Betty enjoyed sewing and made many dresses for her granddaughters and donated many refurbished dolls for Christmas baskets. She also made many beautiful afghans, which her family still enjoy today.
Betty is greatly missed by her children, Cindy (Terry) Cartwright of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Victor (Cindy) Stock; Paula (Bert) Jonsson of Gladstone; Steven (Leigh) Stock of Colorado Springs; and Julie (Don) Chouinard of Gladstone. Her daughter Mary Stock and husband Victor, and 6 brothers and 2 sisters preceeded her in death. She is also survived by her sisters Char Younk of Norway and Zella Greb of Kenosha. GiGi was loved by her 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Betty loved her family dearly. She spent many years as caregiver for her daughter Mary and then her husband Vic. She treasured the large family get-togethers at her house on Christmas Eve and the 4th of July. Betty was broken-hearted about her great-grandson, Callan’s, diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1. SMA is a rare terminal disease that affects the nerves that control muscle movement.
