Dorothy E. Nelsen, age 87, of 402 Montana Avenue, Gladstone, passed away Sunday May 24, 2015 at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba where she resided.

Dorothy was born November 15, 1927 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Floyd E. and Evelyn V. (Lillquist) Dausey and she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Rika and Matt Major. Dorothy worked at the U.S. Treasury Department during WW II.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Norman Nils Nelsen on January 11, 1947 at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. They made their home in Gladstone where they raised their 4 children and Dorothy worked for the J.C. Penny Company. Norman preceded Dorothy in death after 64 years of marriage on June 22, 2011.

Dorothy was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone where she taught Sunday School, served on the Altar Guild for over 46 years and sang in the choir for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Marine Corp. League Auxiliary.

Daughter: Kristin (Doug) McLain of Pottersville, NY

14 granddchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, her grandson, Jason McLain, step-sisters, Shirley and Betty Dausey preceded Dorothy in death.
