Hobart B. Ingle, 85, of Marquette, entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in the loving care of his family.

Hobart was born in Dayton, Ohio, on Sept. 11, 1929, a son of Hobart and Frances (Baird) Ingle. During the school year, Hobart was raised in Dayton, Ohio, and in the summer months he grew up working the family farm in Bryan, Ohio. While attending Oakwood High, Hobart was a terrific athlete. He played offensive guard for the football team and finished second in the State of Ohio in pole vaulting. Following graduation from Oakwood High, Hobart attended and graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge and service to his country, Hobart attended Michigan State University where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Work. He was employed with the State of Michigan as a social worker, with 32 years of service when he retired. One of the highlights of Hobart’s life was when he and daughter, Debbie, took part in U.P. Honor Flight Mission VI. He thoroughly enjoyed the trip and so very happy to be a part of it. Hobart was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge and also a member of the Escanaba Country Club.

Hobart is survived by his three children, Jim (Maryann) Ingle of Marquette, Chuck (Kathy) Ingle of Ossineke, and Debbie (Tim) Lacrosse of Marinette, Wis.; his four grandchildren, Amanda Ingle of Chicago Ill., Tanner Ingle (girlfriend, Mak Misiak), Keegan Ingle and Miya Ingle of Ossineke.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Helen.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 23, at the Escanaba Elks Lodge with veterans services beginning at 2 p.m. and a reception to follow until 5 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the Elks Lodge in Escanaba.
