Harry C. Carignan, age 89, of 17 Maple View Drive, Gladstone, passed away Monday morning April 13, 2015 at home following a lengthy illness.

Harry was born January 3, 1926 in Cornell, MI the son of Nels and Alice (VanDrese) Carignan. He was raised in Cornell and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Harry was united in marriage to the former Lila M. Bersin on October 20, 1951 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock. They made their home in Detroit where they raised their 10 children.

Harry worked for Robotron Electronics Corporation in Detroit, retiring in 1985. Harry and Lila moved to Lewiston, MI in 1989, returning home to Gladstone in 1999 from Lewiston.

Harry was a very faithful and active member of the All Saints Catholic Church where he also served as an Eucharistic Minister. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hiking, boating and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards.

Diane (Daniel) Rivard and Sharon Kloc of Milford, MI

Brother: Robert (Catherine) Carignan of Redford, MI

Sisters: Sadie Conners of Milwaukee, WI and Anne (Doug) Smith of Santa Fe, N.M.

Sister-in-law: Margaret Carignan of Escanaba, MI

19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends also survive.

In addition to his parents, his brothers, Gerald and Norbert, daughters-in-law, Nancy and Pamela Carignan, and brother-in-law, Robert Connors preceded Harry in death.
