Helen Joyce Tousignant, age 78, of 215 Kenneally Blvd, Gladstone, MI passed away Sunday December 28, 2014 at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

Helen was born February 11, 1936 in Gladstone the daughter of Lloyd and Elsie (Anderson) Olson. She was raised in Gladstone where she was a 1954 graduate of Gladstone High School. Helen was united in marriage to Richard Tousignant on September 1, 1956 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schaffer. Helen and Richard resided in Milwaukee for 4 years prior to returning to Gladstone where they raised their family.

Helen worked for Dr. Michael Kelly as a receptionist for 27 years retiring in 1998. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone where she sang in the church choir for many years. Helen also was a member of the Gladstone Golf Club, Bay Sages and the A.R.C. of Delta County.

Helen loved her home where family and friends would always gather, especially over the 4th of July. Her hobbies included golfing, walking, cross-country skiing, gardening and traveling. She treasured her time spent playing with her grandchildren and attending their activities and sporting events.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Richard, survivors include:

Sons: Thomas and Duane Tousignant of Gladstone

Daughters: Diane Jensen of Escanaba and Pamela (Rich) Bascom of Milwaukee, WI

Brother: Kenneth Olson of Milwaukee

Sister: Lenore (Richard) Hanson of Rapid River

5 grandchildren: Brian Jensen, Scott Jensen, Nicholas Mathias, Jennifer Mathias and Savanna Bascom.

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive

In addition to her parents, her 3 brothers, Armand, Robert and Richard Olson, preceded Helen in death.

The family would like to thank the staff of Marquette General Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to Helen.

    As much time as we spent together Auntie was like my second Mother. I have many great memories, I can hear her voice calling my name as she was wondering what kind of trouble I dragging her kids into. You guys have a great family and I,am sorry for your loss. Love Ya

    Helen was a gentle, loving woman. Always a smile on her face. Rest in peace, Helen. Can still see you smiling good morning to me as I came up the stairs to the office so many years ago.

    I loved playing dolls with Helen when we both lived “down the Skeleton Rd.” I was sorry to hear of her passing as I just saw her in July looking as beautiful as ever. You all have my sincere condolences, she will truly be missed. June Johnson Rafiullah

    Aunt Helen was a beautiful person inside & out. We have so many wonderful memories of family parties at the Tousignant house:) She always made everyone feel warm & welcome. We will all miss her very much. Sending our love & prayers to the family. Love The Metzgers
