John and I were boyhood friends and neighbors in Gladstone. I have many memories of the things that the two of us would do. We strung a telegraph wire from his house to mine. We often listened to shortwave radio at his grandmas (and Uncle Bob’s) house. John got his ham radio license when he was a teenager. I finally got mine just a few years ago. John was a good friend.
My sympathies to you on Bob’s passing. I have some fond memories of Bob here at Pine Haven, and it wasn’t that long ago that he was walking into the dining room for meals. His end, if it had to be so untimely, was fortunately quick, and I’m grateful his passing was so peaceful. It was an answer to my prayer.
When a good friend passes away all we have left are our memories. I will never forget the days that John and I spent working as Soo Line gandy dancers in Wisconsin. We both looked back on those days with fond memories. As time passed and we went our separate ways we stayed in touch by meeting several summers at his family
Robert was a kind man, I’m so sorry he couldn’t have recovered from this illness, but he accepted this with great courage. As he told me only days before his passing, “the Lord was on his side”. This gave him hope & peace. We’ll miss him & are proud to call him FRIEND. Roger & Janet
