Alta Doreen Gaffney, age 62, of 225 N. 13th Street, Escanaba, MI passed away Monday evening, April 14, 2014, at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Alta was born January 13, 1952 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Robert and Mildred (Massy) Wagner. She was raised in Gulliver, MI where she attended school and graduated in 1970 from Manistique High School. Alta moved to Escanaba in 1975 where she worked at the Christian Park Health Care Center and Village. Due to her health, she retired after over 20 years of employment. Alta married Richard Gaffney on April 29, 1989 in Gladstone and they made their home in Escanaba.
Alta was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Escanaba. She loved cooking, gardening and tending to her tomato plants. She also enjoyed eating Chinese and Seafood.

Alta you will be greatly missed by all. I enjoyed many days at your house growing up with steph . she loved to do dishes boy i remenber having to help her with them so we could go and do stuff. What about Muffy that dog scared me and chased me all the time to the door. well u are resting and no pain now . love you karen
