Joan Caliguri, age 75, of Gladstone passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Marquette General Hospital, following a brief illness, with her family by her side.
Joan was born January 21, 1939 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the daughter of Donald S. and Geraldine (McCarthy) McDonald. She was united in marriage to Robert Caliguri on October 19, 1957 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sault Ste. Marie. She graduated from Loretta High School in Sualt Ste. Marie in 1958. In 1975 Joan and Bob moved to Gladstone. She was a longtime member of the All Saints Catholic Church where she served on the luncheon committee for many years. Joan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed being at camp and cooking.
Joan is survived by her husband, Bob of Gladstone; her son Rob (Annette) Caliguri of Gladstone; her daughter, Mary Jo (Tim) Vanderlinden of Gladstone; eight grandchildren, Shannon (Josh) Jupe, Jessica (Clayton) Castor, Ashley (Jerod) DeLany, Robbie (Katie) Caliguri, Joshua Caliguri-Pfiester, Michele (Matt) Wiles, Mark (Angie) Feathers and Kyle (Lauren) Vanderlinden; fourteen great grandchildren, Reece, Kayleigh, Rane, Lahna, Kaycee, Sophia, Karson, Karter, Lauren, Zach, Caden, Bryton, Addison, Tyler and Brayden; her sister, Ruth (Charlie) Cryderman of Sault Ste. Marie; sister-in-law, Marilyn McDonald of Brimley, MI; three nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mick McDonald and her great grandson Keaton James DeLany.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 15 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 PM at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. A luncheon will be served following the services in the church fellowship hall. Joan will be laid to rest in the Donaldson Cemetery In Sault Ste. Marie.
