Mary Jane Ledvina, age 86, of Rock passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.
Mary was born June 11, 1927 in St. Nicholas, Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Louise (DeGrand) Verbrigghe. She was raised in St. Nicholas and attended the St. Nicholas school. She was united in marriage to Mathias Ledvina on June 19, 1948 at the St. Jospeh Catholic Church in Perkins. Later that year Mary and Mathias moved to Flat Rock. In 1969 they moved back to St. Nicholas and resided in her family home, where she was born. Mary was a longtime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed being outdoors, working on the family farm, gardening, cutting wood and reading.
Mary is survived by two sons, Gerald Ledvina of Rock, MI and Richard (Ellen) Ledvina of Woodriver, IL; two daughters, Jean (Tim) Krause of Gladstone, MI and Sharon Ledvina of Waverly, OH; 3 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren; eight brothers, Raymond, Leo, Francis, Matt, Lenny, Joe, Hank and Dennis and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathias, her parents, an infant sister, her sister, Donna Mileski, three infant brothers and her brother, Donald Verbrigghe.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 29 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 30 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. A luncheon will be served following the services in the church fellowship hall. Mary will be laid to rest in the St. Nicholas Cemetery.
