Robert “Boop” Ritter, 76, of 8207 River Street, Nahma, died Tuesday January 13, 2004 at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, MI.
Robert was born February 26, 1927 in Nahma, MI, the son of Amos and Clara (Russell) Ritter, who preceded him in death. Boop was raised in Nahma and attended the Nahma schools until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1945. Boop served his country, in the U.S. Navy, on the USS Maryland during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946, and in 1949 Boop married his loving wife Mary Lou VanDamme. Boop and Mary Lou resided in Nahma and Boop worked for The American Playground Corporation until his retirement. Boop was a member and elder of the Tribe of Chippewa American Indians. He enjoyed working at Mac’s Bar as a bartender for 16 years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. During his younger years he played baseball as a catcher and later in life he played softball for the Nahma Old Timers as a pitcher.
Boop was a loving husband to his wife Mary Lou and will be deeply missed.

3 Brothers: William Ritter, Kenneth Ritter, Lewellyn Ritter; 1 Sister: June Marchand; Boop leaves to survive: His loving wife: Mary Lou Ritter; 2 Sons: Robert (Marilyn) Ritter of Cooks, MI, Michael (Sue) Ritter of Sturgeon Bay, WI; 4 Daughters: Patricia (William) Inman of DeBary, FL, Cathy (Louis) Adelman of Sheboygan, WI, Mary Ritter of Douglasville, GA, Cora Lee “Dolly” (Mike) Johnson of Brussels, WI, 2 Brothers: George (Ruth Ann) Ritter of Nahma, MI, Theodore Ritter of Garden, MI; 1 Sister: Alice Popour of MI.
Survivors also include, 17 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; and numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral service celebrating the life of Robert “Boop” Ritter will follow at 5:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home with Deacon Rod Groleau officiating. The Rapid River American Legion Walter W. Cole Post # 301 will conduct military rites honoring “Boop” at 4:45PM. Luncheon will be at the Nahma Township Hall following the funeral service. Burial will be in the Nahma Cemetery.

Although I didn’t know Robert “Boop” Ritter personally, I would like you to know he must have been an amazing person because he has an amazing family! Be strong and take comfort that he is now in a better place.
