Gail J. Cartwright, age 66, of 5840 23.5 Road, Gladstone, died Friday afternoon April 1, 2005 at Marquette General Hospital where she had been a patient. Gail was born April 28, 1938 in Wyandotte, MI, the daughter of George and Elaine (Prickette) Hasselbach. Gail was raised in the Wyandotte area and attended the Wyandotte schools. On November 17, 1980 Gail married Marvin Cartwright and together the couple made their home in the Gladstone area. Gail was a loving mother and wife who worked in her home raising their children. Over the years, Gail belonged to the Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary August Mattson Post #71. She enjoyed spending time with her family, hauling and burning firewood during the cold season and taking afternoon rides with her loving husband Marvin. Her hobbies included feeding wildlife, spending time outdoors, and in her younger years fishing and hunting.

4 Daughters: Debby Woodworth of Jackson, MI; Penny McKnight of Mills, WI; Christine Wolf of Newport,MI; Tammy (Jerry) Harris of Gladstone, MI
1 Brother: Donald (Jesse) Hasselbach of Puruhmt, NV
1 Sister: Ruth (Bob) Chenier of Cornell, MI
Survivors also include, 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her father, George and 1 son, Jimmy Malenfant, preceded Gail in death.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00PM to 6:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Memorial services celebrating the life of Gail Cartwright will follow visitation, at 6:00PM, with Rev. Stephen Patrick of the Grace Baptist Church officiating. The Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary August Mattson Post # 71 will conduct military rites at 5:45PM, at the funeral home. Luncheon will follow at the Gladstone American Legion. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Cartwright family with arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear about Gail, Melvin I give you my prayers through your grieving, please know we all will miss her and her smile. She will remain in our hearts forever! I can just see Mom;(Pearl Anderson) and the rest of the gals from the Legion that have passed before having a “Welcome Home Dartball party” for her in Heaven. I would like to extend my condolances to Chris and the rest of the family. I had only met Gail once when I drove up to the U.P. with Chris when we lived in Toledo. Gail seemed like a very nice person.
