Marilyn Shandonay

Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died July 20, 2025

Marilyn J. Shandonay, age 69, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She is now at peace.

Marilyn was born on May 26, 1956 to the late Robert and Janet Beaudry. Marilyn was the mother of Emma and the loving wife of Mike Shandonay. She was always devoted to her family. She was a loving sister to Marlene (Bob), Myra, Marie (Bruce), and Robert (Christine); and the sweetest auntie to Andre, Aimee, Arlene, Bob, Nikki, Erin, Eric, Chelsea, Josh, and Meghan.

Marilyn was born and raised in Gladstone and graduated from Gladstone High School in the class of 1974. She married a buckeye boy, Mike Shandonay, even though her mother told her not to. Marilyn never liked to play by anyone else’s rules. She had a very fierce, but loving and determined attitude that rubbed off onto everyone she encountered.

Marilyn retired from the OSF St. Francis Hospital billing office after 46 years, and that came with its ups and downs. Regardless, she loved it all. Especially her dear friends, Tina and Sue, that she made along the way and who made work suck a little less. She also cherished her other coworkers and countless good people that she shared time, laughter, and that “great” cafeteria lunch with.

Marilyn never always knew it, but deep down she always wanted to be a mom. She loved to babysit the nieces and nephews. She had her Emma who always made sure everything is and was taken care of for Dad.

The family would like to give a very special thank you to OSF’s Oncology Department, Darci, and OSF Hospice for taking such great care of Marilyn.
