Carol “Jean” Helman, age 93, of Gladstone passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.
Jean was born June 21, 1931 in Mercer, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Holstrom) Popko. She was raised in Mercer and graduated from Mercer High School. She was united in marriage to Donald Helman on September 25, 1954. Jean was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed attending Bible studies, cooking, baking, watching the Game Show Network and the Bold and the Beautiful. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and sewing and was a Club 52 member.
Jean is survived by her sons Dan (Amanda) and Joey (Laurie) Helman, daughters, Tina Donovan, Lori (Billy) Campbell, Mary (Marshall) Brown and Debbie Popour and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents, sons, David and Charles Helman, daughter, Pam Corcoran and siblings, Robert Popko, Dorothy Zeno, Marge Feece, Mae Plutchak, Kay Hill and Barbara Hill.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25 from 12:30 to 2:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 PM. with Pastor Elisabeth Daniels officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.

Jean was a wonderful mom to my husband Joey(her son) and a mother-in-law to me and grandmother to our sons Hunter and Ethan when we come to visit in July and it was so sad to hear of her passing, she will be missed so much. Our love to Tina, Danny and Debbie and Jean now with her husband Don and children Pam, David and Chuck and her siblings all together. Our condolences from South Carolina.
