Larry A. Trekas, age 81, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Larry was born in Escanaba on July 13, 1943, the son of Steve and Anita (Haefs) Trekas. He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1961 and then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving until his honorable discharge. Larry was united in marriage to Carol Joy Trekas on February 14, 1982. Larry was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. His wife, Carol, was truly the love of his life, a sentiment he expressed often, never missing an opportunity to remind her of how much she meant to him.
He was a proud Greek whose hobbies included fishing, playing cards with Uncle Ron and the boys, golfing, watching western movies, and competing in smear league. His annual fishing trip to Langford Lake was always a highlight, where he proudly held the title of reigning poker champion.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Carol; children Barbara Trekas, Steven (Joanna) Trekas, Brian (Debra) Trekas, Scott (Michelle) Trekas, Mike (Jana) Trekas, Wesley (Barb) Litts, and Kelly (Matt) Kleiman; brother Ronald Trekas; 19 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Anita; siblings Ted Trekas, Jerry Trekas, RK Trekas, Norma Malles, and Vivian Look; and sister-in-law Madelyn Trekas.
