Today is March 27, 2007. I lost the Nelson’s phone number, went online to find it and found the obituary instead. The reason I wanted to call was because they were some of the reason I was giving thanks to Jehovah this morning after considering the wonderful example of the hospitable Lydia in the Revelation bookstudy. I could not help but think of my dear Nelsons. At the same time
I was reflecting on our recent Circuit Assembly and the part……All These Other Things Will Be Added. I thought of Steve and Rene, then newlyweds around 1991 and how they took me-a stranger(newly baptized) into their home. Through this wonderful brother and his dear wife Jehovah welcomed me to his spiritual family with open arms. Their warm, Christan love was genuine and deep, affording me an opportunity to experience Jehovah’s love in a more personal way. Steve’s eagerness to please Jehovah and care for his beautiful wife as well as assist his brothers and sisters in his humorous yet gentle way helped me to appreciate and really put confidence in the scriptural headship arrangement. Our grand Creator will reunite us soon with our precious brother. Just a little while longer Rene, just a little while longer…

Dear Rene,
Boy how do you start? I recall always seeing Steve with a smile. Sometimes it seemed shy, other times like he had a good joke about something. He was alway was kind and interested in how Jerome was doing or feeling with his diabetes, even though he was going thur things to a much larger scale. We can be greatful and blessed for knowing him. Also that we all serve such a loving god and we be able to see Steves smile without health problems soon. I am greatful to have gotten to know you also, you made a great couple.

Uncle Steve was always such a positive influence on our family and others. He had a wonderfully positive attitude and was a willing servant of Jehovah, despite the extra effort involved in dealing with his health issues.
Rene – For the past 15+ years you and Steve have worked so well as a husband and wife team. I really admire the way you looked out for one another. You have set a good example for Heather and me.
All of my memories with Steve are good. Steve used to stoke up some of the hottest bathhouse fires in all of Rock. Some of them were hot enough to split the rocks in the stove. Steve taught me to hunt. He would always give me the best spot, even giving up his own blind in order to see me get my deer. That was Steve, though. He was always looking out for others – especially in his ministry.
We’ll miss him for now, but are confident that Jehovah will remember him for all his good work. Jehovah yearns to see people like Steve again. Job 14:13-15

Our entire family was so sad to hear about Steve’s death. He has always been such a positive person, although he has suffered so much these past years with his health. His love of the outdoors came through, he shared this with my family. We are related by marriage and are very grateful that we had the opportunity to know such a kind, thoughtful person. We look forward to seeing him in the Paradise – fully restored to health again.
Wish we could be there Rene to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

We will always remember Uncle Steve for his laughter (giggle) and smile. He always would greet us with them whenever we saw him, no matter how he felt. We are also encouraged that he was faithful to Jehovah to the very end of his life, a good example!

When I heard that Steve had died, I felt that I would never see his great big smile. Until the new system. I enjoy how concern we was when he was talking to me at the Kingdom Hall. I enjoy how he always looked at me. You could never find such a devoted, caring and kind man. Rene our family will be here for you. I love you, Rene and Steve both. I will miss Steve very much. He was so up building to me and how he knew things about the bible and everything so much that I didn’t even know. I will greatly miss Steve Nelson.

Although we have never met, I came across the obituary for Steve and was saddened to hear of the death of this beloved brother. May the hope contained in the scriptures comfort his family and friends and may Jehovah grant you power beyond what is normal as you grieve the loss of your dear one. We will be praying for you.
