John, thank you for being a positive influence in my life. Your unconditional love of everyone has touched everyone’s hearts, including mine. It’s hard to believe you are gone, but you will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

John was a very good friend of mine from Holy Name, Bay College, NMU and after my college graduation in 1976. John was a good listener and friend when I lost my dad (at age 59) suddenly in 1977 while I worked at the City of Escanaba.
John, Jeanne Groos and I (all from Holy Name) worked at the (Diocese of Marquette) Camp Plagens summer camp outside of Land O’Lakes, Wisconsin.
John and I would occasionally golf together using his dad’s golf cart and play at Highland Golf Course.
I remember John being very devoted to his mom; my family and I just happened to run into them in Rapid River a few weeks before his mom’s death.
I am sorry to hear of John’s illness and passing which is way too young. He will be missed by Holy Name, Bay College, and NMU classmates and by me.

To One Hell Of A Man! I hope you know by now the difference you have made in each and everyone of our lives that you have touched!
Thank you for being my “other mother’s” “Everything”. I thank GOD you came into her life and gave, not only to her “Joy, Happiness, and LOVE,” but to her “Extended” family as well! That will never go forgotten!
Hey, John, sorry about the carmax on the mirror! I know that you understood, for you never made a “Big Deal” out of it. And “Thanks” for putting up with us that night! In all the years I’ve known you, you never said nothing to me till I was “Rubbing” you the wrong way! Sorry! I knew better!
I guess Tricia summed everything up when she said about your suffering, thou we really didn’t know cause you “always” had a smile and “Happy go lucky” expression on your face! We watched you suffer, and really alot of times had to cry! You didn’t deserve the start, middle or the end! But I was happy for you that you had the start with my “Other Mother”!
“Everything in life happenes for a reason” and I’m so Happy you were apart of ours! Hey, We’ll all meet some day up on the tall grass on “Heaven’s Highest Hill!”
Thank You So Much John for making a difference in everyone’s life! You will be so missed, but never forgotten!
As Tricia would say, “See you soon papa John”
All Our Love and prayers! You will never be forgotten!

John is truly one of the sparkling memories in my life. We were next door neighbors on 16th street, and from the day he was born, our lives have been entwined. He was like a member of our household. I saw him last a few years ago when he came to Nevada to visit relatives. We had a wonderful 5 hour visit in which we laughed, cried, reminisced, and he also gave me peace of mind. He was a very knowing person with a kind and loving heart. The beauty of his soul will remain with me always.

My mother, Pearl Juntunen, told me about John’s death this evening. My heartfelt condolences go out to each member of the family as you adjust to life without John. I’ll always remember him as a child growing up in our quiet neighborhood! I’ve never seen him since but I’m sure he has a wonderful family that he leaves behind. I’m sorry that he had to suffer with ALS for these past few years. I know it must have been hard for you all. God be with you all in the days ahead.

What I will remember about UncaOn, as we called him, is laughter. We always seemed to be laughing when we were around him and that giggle of his surely was contagious. He was a good man and a fine friend to tons of people. He will be greatly missed not just by his family but by SO MANY others. My prayers are with his loved ones at this difficult time.
