Marcella L. Makosky, age 99, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

Marcella was born July 26, 1925 in Gladstone, MI the daughter of Benjamin and Marie (Seguin) Young. She attended and graduated from Gladstone Area Schools Class of 1944.

On August 17, 1946, Marcella was united in marriage to Charles Makosky and together the couple made their home and raised their family in Gladstone.

Marcella was a lifelong member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was a loving and proud wife, mother and grandmother. She was fulfilled taking care of others. Her love language was baking and always made sure her loved ones were fed. She also enjoyed crocheting and crafting.

Marcella is survived by:

Children: Marilee DeMarse and Thomas (Terri) Makosky

Sibling: Marilyn (Dennis “Butch”) Aicher

Grandchildren: Katie (CJ) Tonozzi, Kelsey DeMarse, Roy (Amanda), Mary, Sara, Marayha (Nate), Sam, Peter, Shay, Brittney (Kyle), Cody, Marlene and Emily.

Also surviving are numerous Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

In addition to her Parents, Marcella is preceded in death by her Husband, Charles Makosky, Son-in-law, Mark DeMarse, Brothers, George Young, Milford Young, Clifford Young and Sisters,

Family will receive friends on Monday, August 19, 2024 from Noon until 1:00 PM at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone. Pastor Terri Branstrom will be officiating funeral services celebrating Marcella’s life at 1:00 PM. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Marcella will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.

    Aunt Marce was a jewel. As a child, I remember fun visits on holidays and as an adult, morning coffee with mom and dad and the neighborhood. Rest in peace, Aunt Marce. Uncle Chuck is glad you’re home with him. Tom and Marilee, she loved you both so much.
