George Spaulding, age 79, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
George was born on June 7, 1944 in Munising, the son of Edward L. And Leona M. (Rochefort) Spaulding. George worked for many years in the construction industry through the construction laborers union all over the Upper Peninsula. He later went to work as a truck driver and crane operator at Coplan Iron and Metal until his retirement. George enjoyed working in his garage, mainly on small engines. He also built tractors and loved participating in UP Garden Tractor Pullers competitions. He was very proud of that. George was a very hard worker all throughout his life. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and they will miss him dearly.
George is survived by his sons David (Jesselyn) Spaulding and Paul (Tracy) Spaulding; brothers Lawrence (Shirley) Spaulding and Milton Spaulding; sisters Grace Willis and Eleanor Lauren; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George was preceded in death by his wife Sandrea “Jeannie” Spaulding; his parents; brothers William, Lee Edward, and Howard Spaulding; and sister Luella Hancock.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of Bishop Noa Home for their excellent care and compassion they provided.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 3 PM to 5 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Memorial services honoring George will follow visitation at 5 PM. George will be laid to rest in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
