Roger Tourangeau Sr, age 89, of Gladstone passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Emmons Adult Foster Care in Bark River.
Roger was born January 19, 1934 in Escanaba, the son of Arthur and Valentine (Charboneau) Tourangeau Sr. He graduated from the St. Joseph School in Escanaba in 1953. He served in the United States Air Force, was a member of Holy family Catholic Church in Flat Rock, worked for the Mead Paper Corporation for many years, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and gardening.
Roger is survived by his wife, Betty, his sons Rev. Fr. John, Roger (Lorie) Jr and James (Norma), his daughter, Katherine Nelson, step-son, Greg (Carol) Dittrich, step-son-in-law, Pat Bigley, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Don Reuter, sisters-in-law, Beverly Tourangeau, Lorraine Tourangeau, Judde Snyder, Patty Carroll and Barbara Kutches and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth, an infant daughter, Kristine, his parents, his brothers, Rene, Clem, Ernie, Eugene, Art and Leo, his sisters, Bernadette, Cecile and Martha and step-daughter, Kim Bigley.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 18 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military Honors will be presented at 6:00 PM by the Delta County Veterans Council followed by Parish Prayers. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 19 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Roger will be laid to rest in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Escanaba.
