Norman James Bergeron, age 87, of Rapid River passed away at home on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Norman was born January 2, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Frances Bergeron. He was united in marriage to Sharon “Sherry” Yeadon on July 22, 1961 in Rapid River. They made their home in Rapid River where they raised their four children. He previously owned and operated Bergeron Marine in Rapid River, a business his parents began in 1948. He worked with his parents for many years and also with his son, J.C., who eventually took over the business. Norman was an officer for the Escanaba Police Department until he was called to serve his country in the US Army. Upon his discharge he returned to the Police Department for a short period of time.
He enjoyed the outdoors, riding ATV’s, was an avid hunter and an accomplished target shooter, winning numerous competitions and awards. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Norman is survived by his children, J.C. (Grace) Bergeron of Rapid River, Betsy Bergeron of Escanaba, Sally (Ken) Wood of Selbyville, Delaware and Jamie (Jenny) Bergeron of Gladstone, 11 grandchildren, Tom(Ashley), Chris(Libby),Tyler(Katelyn) Crossman, Alyssa(Steve) Sovey,, Josh and Jake (Brittany) Kositzke, Kyle and Allie Williams, Ronnie Ferrell, and Jamisyn and Gavin Bergeron, 13 great grandchildren, Carson, Connor, Savanna and Amelia Sovey, Alex and Jaxson Crossman, Hunter, Gage, Gunner Caproon, Grayson and Finnie Crossman and Levi and Lincoln Kositzke.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon and his parents.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Rest easy Norm! You will be missed by this mechanic. Been buying parts from Norm since I was a kid. Was just in there the other day getting parts and talking to him. Going to miss our conversations and your advice and stories. Thank you for your service to this great country and our community. Man worked to the end doing what he loved. I will miss my good friend Norm he was always ready to tell a story or handle the government problems.He will be greatly missed.
