Michael Donald Clark, 80, of Rapid River, passed away at home surrounded by family on December 21, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.
Michael was born the 2nd oldest child on October 6, 1943 to M. Donald and Marjorie Clark (Wyers) in St. Ignace, MI. After Michael graduated from LaSalle High School in 1961, he joined the U.S. Navy as a radar technician.
After his time in the navy, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union as an apprentice electrician, kickstarting a 46 year career as an electrician.
In 1968, Michael met Lynne McCall at a dance and it was love at first sight, at least on his part. They were married in June 1969 and were married for 54 wonderful years. Michael and Lynne had two daughters, Melissa Schimke of Rapid River, MI and Karen Rose of Escanaba, MI.
Michael was a proud Papa to six grandchildren; Michael, Moriah, Christopher, Lea, Adelia and Zach and 5 great-grandchildren.
In 2005, Michael retired and spent his time watching the grandchildren’s activities, hunting and fishing and watching the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions games.
Michael was predeceased by his parents M. Donald and Marjorie Clark, wife Lynne Clark, brothers Pete and Jim Clark, and sister Janice Clark. He is survived by his brother Bill Clark, daughters Melissa Schimke (Kevin Schimke) and Karen Rose (Ryan Cantrell), grandchildren Micheal Rose, Moriah Germain (Kenneth Germain), Christopher Rose, Lea Kang, Adelia Kang and Zach Cantrell and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28 from 12:00 to 1:45 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military Honors will be presented at 1:45 PM. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Elisabeth Daniels officiating. Following the services, a luncheon will be held in Michael’s honor at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Gladstone.
