Sonja and Hank were our neighbors for years. Sure did miss them when they moved and Hank passed on. Love her witty sense of humor. ❤️

Sonja was a resident at Lake Bluff Retirement Community. She was always full of life and kept a beautiful yard. Rest in peace dear neighbor.

I have so many wonderful memories of Sonja that won’t begin to fit on this page. She was my friend and neighbor in Gladstone. We played poker every Saturday night for years with a group of senior ladies. Many laughs were had and much wine was drunk. Sonja was one of the luckiest people I’ve ever met when it came to games. She loved garage sales, water color painting…painting of any kind, actually. Walls, furniture or canvas. Sonja was game to try anything. Her backyard was like a quaint English garden, and she took pride in showing all of the new statues and shrubs she found to add to it. She left a huge hole in our group of friends when she moved back home to the Soo, and as inevitably happens, I didn’t keep in touch as I should. Rest in peace, my friend.

Thank y’all for sharing these stories. I’m Jennifer, Sonja’s granddaughter (from her son Skip). She was a lovely lady for sure.

Sonja and I were both residents of Lake Bluff Retirement Village. She was always involved in activities there and organized our weekly Poker nights…these were a highlight of our life. She loved going to St. Vinnie’s and Goodwill to find bargains,,,not just for herself but for her friends also. I began referring to her as “my personal shopper.” She loved cooking and trying new recipes and enjoyed cooking impromptu meals for friends. Her beautiful yard was a testament to her love of flowers. Trips to Green Bay with her were a delight. Even after she relocated to Sault Ste Marie, we visited back and forth for three years, until her declining health resulted in her vacating her home. Thank you for being my friend. I miss you very much.
