Escanaba, MI
Basil L. Barcome, age 95, passed away Monday morning, February 13, 2023 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba.
Basil was born March 28, 1927 in Hardwood, MI the son of Richard and Eva (Robinette) Barcome.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for a few years before being honorably discharged and returning home.
Basil was united in marriage to Zella M. Fleming on August 31, 1951. Together the couple made their home and raised their family in Escanaba.
Basil was employed at Harnischfeger for 37 years. He liked to fish and hunt; he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Basil is survived by:
Son: Basil (Laurie) Barcome of Denmark, WI
2 Daughters: Wanda Makosky of Bark River, MI
Deborah Barcome of Manistique, MI
2 Sisters: Patricia Dixon and Janet Ambrosia
12 Grandchildren: Shawn Makosky, Shannon Johnson, Sharron Hughes, Craig Marcella, Andy Shinnaberry, Lyle Shinnaberry, Dustin Maki, Tonia Landsfeld, Amy Harris, Don Luusua, Mike Herold and Jess Levitt.
Numerous Great Grandchildren
And several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins
In addition to his Parents and his Wife, Basil is preceded in death by:
Daughter: Valerie Maki
Sisters: Leona St. Vincent and Elaine McCabe Geneva Mongraine Peggy Swartz
Son-in-law: Steve Makosky
Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military Honors will be presented at 4:00 PM by the Delta County Veteran Council. A luncheon will follow at the Local 21 Hall, 1201 Sheridan Road, Escanaba, MI 49829. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Barcome family.
