Mary Lou Tuyls, 82, of Gladstone passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.
Mary was born September 1, 1940 in Marquette, Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Augusta (Dorow) Lewke. She was raised in Skandia and graduated from Marquette Public High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Tuyls on April 26, 1962. Mary worked for the Great Lakes First Federal Credit Union and Iverson’s Home Center in Gladstone for many years and was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Marquette.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, her parents, two brothers, Henry and Ronald and a sister, Doris.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 450 West Ohio Street, Marquette. Memorial services will follow at 4:00 PM. A luncheon will be served following the services in the fellowship hall.
The family would like to thank the Staff of Christian Park Health Care Center for their care and compassion.

    Mary Lou, you’ve had a long and great life. You have touched a lot of lives over the years.
    You had a kind heart and gave to others even when you needed it yourself. The neighbourhood people will think of you every time we drive by your place. Now that your at piece celebrate with Lloyd and your parents and everyone else you’ve miss over the years. RIP. Bill and Kathy.

    Many memories over the years of Mary Lou. From visiting at my mom & dad’s. Camping & teasing my kids all in fun. Loving & babysitting my cat. So many memories that could go on & on. I know you are now resting in peace.

    I have so many wonderful memories of you and Lloyd traveling with the softball team. Never forget the first time we met…. I’ll always be little Beck because of you. Rest in peace my dear friend♥️

    Mary Lou you had a long good life. We had many laughs when we worked together at Gladstone Community Credit Union.. We celebrated your 50th at the credit union and I remember you were so mad at Lloyd cause he wasnt on time to pick you up after work and you started walking home mad and he passed you up. HAHHA. You were always lots of laughs . I will miss you, you crazy lady.

    Mary Lou, you always made me laugh. You were bright, honest, caring and funny. You were always very giving and you didn’t take any B S from anyone. You really stood out in our family and I loved you for it. You will be missed.

    I hope Mary Lou is resting in peace. I can still here her chearing our softball teams from the stands: ” knock the cover off the ball, and Can o’ corn”!

    Mary Lou was always a joy to talk to. No matter where you met her years ago it was work, sports. later years usually grocery stores. She was a special person. Maxine

    Mary Lou, one of the nicest, most caring ladies I ever knew,from the softball games, to iversons, to just seeing her at the local store,she always had a kind word for everyone. The world could use a few more like her❤️

    Oh Mary Lou you had a heart of gold a a sense of humor of no other. You made me laugh and smile whenever I saw you. You’re going to be missed.
