Margaret J. Edwardsen, age 82, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 26, 2022, at her home in Rapid River, with her family by her side.
Margaret was born February 22, 1940, in Pequaming, MI, the daughter of John and Marceline (Cooney) Sands. She was raised in Pequaming and was a graduate of L’anse High School.
Following high school, Margaret attended the University of Michigan before returning home to the L’anse area.
On July 4, 1959, Margaret was united in marriage to George Edwardsen at Sacred Heart Church in L’anse. In 1961, the couple moved to Gladstone, eventually settling in Rapid River where they raised their family and enjoyed many wonderful years together. Margaret was briefly employed at Hoegh Pet Casket Company in Gladstone. She went on to receive her Associate of Business Degree from Bay de Noc Community College and was employed at the U.S. Forestry Service where she worked until her retirement following 22 years of service.
Margaret enjoyed playing Bingo and attending her Ladies Card Group. She loved to brook trout fish and in her younger years, playing pool for the Women’s Gladstone Pool League.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 2PM to 6PM, at Operating Engineers Union Hall 802 Clark Drive Gladstone. Food and Beverage will be provided. Margaret will be laid to rest in the Skanee Cemetery in the Spring time. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements

I’m so sorry & saddened to hear of Maggie’s passing. My heart goes out to all of her family. I will always remember that big smile on her face. I will never forget growing up watching her & George completely dominating the local pool world. I have witnessed a lot of pool players in my lifetime and I am still mesmerized by what a champion Maggie was as a player and, more importantly, as a person!
