Bonnie LaCosse, age 80, of Perkins, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
Bonnie was born on August 3, 1941, in Rapid River, the daughter of Woodrow and Eugenia (Martin) Johnson. Bonnie grew up in Perkins and attended Perkins School Systems. Bonnie later met William “Sonny” LaCosse and they were married in 1959. They were united in marriage for 63 wonderful years.
Bonnie was a happy soul who you could find singing from sun up to sun down. She enjoyed painting, puzzles, and also loved to crochet, making afghans for all of her grandchildren. Sitting around a bonfire while camping was one of her favorite things to do and you can bet that she had her fishing pole with. She got a lot of joy from casting a line and trying to reel in a big one. Bonnie also loved going to the casino, especially on the girls trips for Mothers Day and her birthday. And somehow, she usually came out ahead. One of her greatest loves was being the biggest cheerleader at all of her grandkid’s sporting events. She enjoyed seeing her grandkids out with a “punch for luck”. She cherished spending time with her family and she will be deeply missed by so many.
Bonnie was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Perkins where she sang in the choir and headed the fish frys for many years.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at U.P. Health Systems Hospice and Father William Ssozi of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for their kindness and compassion.
Bonnie is survived by her husband William “Sonny” LaCosse, sister Ellen Johnson, brother Marty (Phyllis) Johnson, son Thomas (Laurie) LaCosse, grandchildren Gina (Tom) Gereau Mallorie (Justin) Norman, Maxwell LaCosse, Jessica Rudden, Jackie Olsen, Michael Narkooli, Melissa Narkooli, Mitchell Narkooli, Nathaniel Dunlop, and Zachary Narkooli, great-grandchildren Owen Gereau, Aubrey Gereau, Madi Norman, Miles Norman, Marcus Rudden, Ashton Dery, Alexis Dery, and Bryce Olsen.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth Johnson, daughters Linda LaCosse and Carol Narkooli, and granddaughter Jamie Narkooli.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 9 AM to 11 AM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial honoring Bonnie will begin at 12 noon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Perkins with Rev. Fr. William Ssozi officiating. Bonnie will be laid to rest in Perkins Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Joseph’s parish hall. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the LaCosse family.
