Daniel P. “Papa Dan” Ayotte, age 50, of Rapid River passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at his home.

Dan was born November 5, 1971, in Escanaba, MI the son of Perry and Bonnie (Smith) Ayotte. He attended and graduated from Rapid River High School Class of 1990.

Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a passionate Detroit Lions fan. He reinstated the family farm and enjoyed teaching his son, James 4-H. They sold pigs in the fair every year. He loved his WWE wrestling. He would lend a helping to anyone who needed it. He also enjoyed playing bingo.

Son: James “Peach” Ayotte of Rapid River, MI
Sister: Linda (Harold Sackett) Ayotte of Rapid River, MI
Brother-in-law: Dennis Helgemo of Gladstone, MI
Niece: Heather Lewis of Gladstone, MI
Nephew: Michael Helgemo of Gladstone, MI
Great Niece: Madison Ayotte
Great Nephew: Little Dan Lewis
Special Friend: Craig Combs

In addition to his Parents, Dan is preceded in death by:
Sister: Mary Beth Helgemo
Mother-in-law: Diana Oliver

Family will receive friends on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will follow with Pastor William Rafuse officiating at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. A luncheon will take place at the Rapid River Congregational Church to follow. The Skradski Funeral Homes is assisting the Ayotte Family.

    I worked at the Escanaba Holiday. I knew him as a regular customer. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a good guy. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family!!
