Richard “Dick” H. Froberg, age 84, of Rapid River, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
Dick was born on April 8, 1937, in Masonville Township, the son of William and Isabelle (Deneau) Froberg. Dick worked for Harnischfeger for a number of years before beginning work as a truck driver for the Delta County Road Commission. He really enjoyed his work and retired from the Road Commission after a long career. On August 24, 1974, Dick was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Rinard. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2013.
Dick enjoyed gardening and planting trees. He also enjoyed mowing grass, using his bulldozer, and sitting on his porch. Dick could also be found at the casino, or camping in his younger years. Dick loved to feed the birds and rabbits also. Dick enjoyed taking marathon trips to see his family members for visits. He cherished the time with his family, his dog Coco and his cat Muffin “Puff”, and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. W, Towzer, and Rabbit will make sure Gunny and Burlap, and Tousilla know all the stories and grandpa-isms of Dick’s. See you in church, the round one so the devil can’t corner ya.
Dick is survived by his children Jacquelynn (James) WIlson, Barbara (Robert) Chapla, Lori (Kirk) McCarty, and Penny (James) Pavlat and their children Zachary (Molly) Pavlat, Katrina Pavlat, and Dominique Pavlat, his great grandchildren Oliver, Gerard and Cecelia Pavlat. Dick is also survived by his siblings Robert (Nancy) Froberg, and Dennis Froberg, sisters-in-law Patsy and Lora Froberg, brother-in-law Joe Rousseau, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dick is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his parents, siblings Ruth Froberg, Alice Rousseau, Marlene (Wayne) Lippold, William Froberg, James Froberg, and John Froberg, and sister-in-law Marcella Froberg.
Family will receive friends on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 2 PM to 4 PM at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services honoring Dick will begin at 4 PM with Pastor Bill Rafuse officiating. A luncheon will follow services at the Rapid River Congregational Church. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Froberg family.

I remember hearing your Kubota in the woods behind our house. I’d always sneak up on you and try and see what you were doing. I never had the courage to come out of the woods and say hi. I wish I did. I miss you Grandpa.
